I'm new to competitive Wi-Fi battling do I'm not that good but how does this team sound:

>Salamence
>Latias
>Magnezone
>Heatran

Salamence is supposed to be my revenge killer but I'm wondering if he should be replaced. The whole team is sort of based around Metagross since he's one of my favorite pokemon but I'm not sure if he's that viable as a lead
General improvements/criticism is appreciated

salamence is basically a shitty dragonite but its still usable. if you want a revenge killer i'd just drop mence and run scarf on latias, or use latios instead. ground types fuck your team over in general, maybe swap mence for landorus-t (which can also be used as a revenge killer if you want to play it like that)

It sounds like you are fucked if your opponent has a mamoswine and a rotom-w. Maybe rethink everything? You have too many repeated types (steel and dragon say hi). Try diversifying, get something to resist Dark, get something that could absorb status (you need something that can take a spor on the switch), etc.

Ok, after some thought, here's my opinion. You should have something that resists/is immune to Metagross' weaknesses, otherwise he won't really work all that well. I'd recommend you get Mandibuzz on your team, as it resists ghost, dark and ground, three of teh four weaknesses Metagross has (fire is already covered by heatran, so that's pretty cool).

Mence is not really a good revenge killer. He's also almost completely supplanted by dragonite. He's still usable, but I would rethink that position, at least until you get the ropes of competitive pokémon. Using non-orthodox pokémon is complicated, and takes some practice.

My last recommendation would be to get rid of some other mon in favor of a grass poke. That would get you a nice FWG core to resist a bunch of common moves.

Mamoswine Eats him up with EQ. He also fucks over Magnezone, Heatran, Latias and Mence. That's 5 out of 6.

Thanks for the advice. What would you recommend in terms of grass types? Also would putting Landorus-T on a team with Metagross work? I don't know much about him since I skipped gen 5 (which I regret), but he's ground/flying, which resists some of metagross's weaknesses

Landorus - T might work, instead of mence, maybe. That could be a good idea.

As for grass types, I realize you have no mega on your team, so you should go Mega-Venusaur.
