It introduces the concept of armor evolution and dna evolution (jogress), but I warn you, it has a bunch of holes and given it changes director mid-season many things end up wrong. For a good season, watch Tamers (season 3). It's a whole new story, but it's generally regarded as a masterpiece. I'd watch that.
As for the cards, sadly, they were discontinued. I'm not sure but I'm almozt sure this happened in Japan too, at least with the Alpha Card Game.
