I almost wiped to that fucking Scyther
Long story short, Tomahawk was critted twice in a row by quick attacks
everyone else but Croconaw was at like 3 HP.
I needed someone to sacrifice so I could heal Linoone (Scyther was at -1 speed thanks to Croc's rock tomb) so I had to sacrifice poor Yuki.

such is life as an ice type.

So now that I have 2 spaces in my team, who should I fill said spaces with? Should I fill one and keep the other vacant for Illex forest?

TotT: Any of Dray's hacks, really. Tough as balls, but I like to see revamps of previously shit pokes, and the difficulty reminds me of why I like games like Etrian Odyssey. Challenge is fun.

It was pretty fun, the survivors are in my X now.
Lilligant was my MVP, Mienshao/Audino/Gliscor also survived the league.

Chandelure and Hydreigon died to Iris, and I had something ridiculous like 12 deaths.

Wanting to retry it on Black 2, if only I could find my cart..

Worst part of the run was Colress.

I sometimes use a rare candie/revive ONLY IF I feel the death was complete and utter bullshit. Otherwise I man it up and seal those revives/rare candies away.

I might do Bulba over Nincada, I don't want the flying type to repeat, and it's Brave nature anyway.
I wonder what I'll catch in Illex forest, too. Hmm. I'll go into the forest and get my catch there first, and see where it goes from there.

Unless you want to try and go for an Emolga (Rustling Grass) or Solosis (White 2 right?), then I say take it. It's generally going to be better than anything you'd find on the route.

A wonderlocke is pretty much exactly like a Nuzlocke, with the exception that you immediately put your caught pokémon up on the Wonder Trade, and use whatever you get in return.

Wonderlocke was my inspiration for the Reincarnationlocke, as I liked the variety that Wonderlocke presented over the regular Nuzlocke, but I also personally like to have some control over my initial party composition.

My Miltank, Toriel, died to a crit from Lance's last Dragonite.
She thought she was protecting us from them but she was protecting them from us.
Still, it was sad. She had carried me through the game since I caught her. She was a mother to the team.

I caught a snubble on my way to Oreburgh, but a pinecone in the tunnel used explosion and killed it. It was a short life; I've now lost two pokémon. I really hope nothing happens to my pincir and cacnea, I've grown quite attached to them.

I'm about to meet the gym leader in the tunnels and then battle him. Since this is randomized his pokémon won't be limited to rock type, right? Should I train a bit more, or go fight him after meeting him in the tunnels?

Technically I consider it all part of the same area. If the location changes on where you found it then it's okay, however, if it doesn't then one Pokemon no matter what in that area.

Yes. For example if you went into Meteor Falls in any of the RSE games. You caught a Zubat there. You come back later and catch a Pokemon on the second floor after you get the Waterfall HM. It still says Meteor Falls and therefore you cannot use the second Pokemon in a nuzlocke.

A valid example of two areas would be going into Castelia City's Sewers and getting a Zubat there, but going into Castelia City's Garden and getting a Pokemon there. They're two different areas and say as much on their bio screen.

It's a lil' bit difficult in the normal games(I finished in Pearl) but in Dray's hacks are a lot more challenging. I'm doing in Sacred Gold right now.

I just turned my BB2 nuzlocke into a normal run through because I got tired of BB2's bullshit with the RNG and hax. How can a Pokémon get 5 crits in a row with no focus energy? Probably took me around 30-40 tries to get a run good enough to beat the Elite 4 in BB2 Challenge Mode, but I found the challenge enjoyable and just kept trying, but it definitely had those moments of just pure hax as well.

Welp, sustained heavy losses to Bruno and Karen, lost Houndoom to Bruno's Hitmonchan when I couldn't risk Losing another fighting weak mon or risk the Ice Punch for Based, Hi Jump Kick hit and OHKO'd.

Lost Bofu and Bios to Karen's Swagger Honchkrow when it crit Bofu at +6 and got Bios with the confusion after I stupidly didnt heal.

Doing a solo run on Emerald to pass the time, 4 hours in-ish and beaten Norman.

It was originally a Mudkip solo but there was literally no way without crit/misshax that Mudkip could beat Wattson. Even when Mudkip was 10 levels higher than Magneton, nope.

So, yeah. Marshtomp is lvl44. Probably going to finish the game tonight too.

Make it so you have a 'healing point' for every town you visit. For every town you go through you're allowed to use one of your healing points to restore your health or keep it for later. Mind you using wild trainers would take your healing point as well. Keep track of them, and it'll add more challenge to the run. Wiping out is game over.

Using the box will count as using a healing point as well so pick your catches wisely.

Yeah, so for example you get to Viridian City. When you go through it you gain a healing point.

With that healing point you can choose to use the Pokecenter or use your box to exchange/heal Pokemon.

The same goes with nurses in the wild as well. If they catch you or you fight them and they heal you it's one of your healing points.

You can add no recovery in battle, or recovery at all. It's similar to the survival challenge in the OP.

Survival Challenge:

. Pokémon centers are expelled from game-play. Furthermore, items of any kind may not be purchased. This rule creates the centerfold of the challenge.
a. Any to all items found, given, or uncovered via Dowsing machine or "Pick-up" may be utilized.
b. "Nurse" and "doctor" trainers may only heal your party one time each. It would be wise to plan these encounters strategically.
c. Fainted Pokémon may be revived through these means only (a & b).
d. TMs may be purchased. The more strategy, the better!

2. You may only have up to six Pokémon, in entirety, at all times. This means no PC Pokémon. If you wish to add a new member to a full party, you must first choose one Pokémon to release. This rule eliminates PC healing of any kind while promoting the theme of the challenge - using only what you have with you. Furthermore, the decision to capture becomes much more crucial and really encourages you to consider how a new Pokémon would benefit your team more than another.

3. Similar to Nuzlocke, you may only catch one Pokémon per route/area; unlike Nuzlocke, you may choose the species of Pokémon you wish to catch from said area.
a. You must catch the first of the desired species encountered. Failure to do so (i.e. fainting) disqualifies said Pokémon from entering your party (the route is also disqualified for further captures).
b. You may not catch two Pokémon of the same species. This includes evolved Pokémon (i.e. catching a Lillipup disqualifies future Herdier captures). If you release a specific Pokémon, you may not later catch another of the species or its evolved forms.

4. Details, details. Battle style = set & legendary Pokémon are prohibited. Aside from evolving captured Pokémon, no outside trades. Blacking-out = game over. Soft-resets of any kind will not be tolerated!

Dary hacks are meant to be Nuzlocke Killers. I suffered a lot on my BB2 egglocke and I'm having a hard time in my current SG nuzlocke.
Try doing nuzlockes in hacks that are not so tough, like FR Omega. It has a lot of Pokémons and is not that difficult.

Starting my version of DexBased's Reincarnationlocke, which I dub the WondeReincarnationlocke.

Basically I start with 6 Wonder Traded mon instead of caught mons. I'm also altering a few other rules slightly, as delineated in my rules section.

Starting team has a lot of promise. Got a Potential Mega user already and a nice spread of types. I'm thinking Umbreon for Eevee because it is Lax, but we'll see where we are later in the run.

Also used this template to help me get a little more familiar with Photoshop.

Grinding my ass off in Mt. Chimney in my emerald run, preparing for the mossdeep gym leader fight. I'm not looking forward to this, my grinding for this fight has been plagued with bad luck and stupid moves on my part--lost three pokemon just trying to raise them.

I had 10 deaths between Wattson and Flannery alone. Didn't expect Rapidash to have fucking DRILL RUN which took out zap7 in one shot. That was too fucking close for comfort. I switched in exeggutor, because I knew he would use Outrage against it, and sure enough, it did, so I switched out to Sylveon to confuse it and stop the outrage. While it hit itself, I used yawn. I hoped it would hit itself again while I used Moonblast. Nope, fucking Iron Head. I survived with 10 fucking HP left. KOing it was easy once it was asleep, but that was too fucking risky. The best part? My hippowdon's sandstorm ended on the same turn I switched Sylveon in. If that sandstorm had lasted even 1 turn longer, she would be a goner.

I'm honestly surprised I managed to get through that battle with no casualties.

What do you feel like personally doing? Crystal is a pretty easy Nuzlocke till Kanto, however it has a ton of grinding.

White is a lot more straight forward, and I feel is the more interesting of the two choices. Your personal taste will decide it better though I feel like.

Update 2: Beat the first gym.

Ghosts are really good when most of your foes only know normal moves.

I added a species clause because why not.

Rotom swept the leader by itself, and we're heading to Lumiose to pick an appliance.

Wash is the obvious choice, but that is boring so I'm considering the other options. Heat would be my go to, but I have Charmander and I don't want to double down on fire that much. Cut is my favorite, and I think I'll go for it because Leaf Storm is more reliable than Hurricane and Blizzard.

I made the unfortunate mistake of keeping Flare Blitz over Ember. Charmander is going to be a little suicidal.

I've done a Wonderlocke before so I don't really anticipate any losses until the 2nd Gym. That and Reflection Cave is where it really ramps up, but I lucked out with a ghost so we'll see how it goes.

Lowrider the Scrafty was knocked out by something or other earlier along the road, but I wasn't worried unless I needed to face a bunch of psychic trainers. Then I see Psychic William. "It'll be fine." I say aloud before having to eat my words when his Espeon wipes the floor with the other five members of my team. But thats fine, I can just restart from my last save outside victory road(per my rules). Finally, we get there mostly in one peice (everyone's alive and in the green even Walnut the Chesnaught who's been hanging at the front of the party soaking hits from wild pokemon.) Scrafty moves to the front of the party and I'm ready for the rematch....

I like the challenge of having to buy healing and only being allowed to use the Centers/PC for PP recovery which mean money has meaning. Another one I've heard about but don't plan to do is a monotype-locke where you're allowed to wander an area until the first pokemon of a certain type appears, from there normal rules apply.

Getting Sharpedo was a bit disappointing after finding a Piloswine in the grass right after, but Mai Tai is really pulling her weight. So fragile though, I'm worried now that I'm getting attached.

Emboar helped me blow through gym two, and then picked up a couple more members in the Castelia area. Undocumented is a pair of Choice Specs, which could help later for scary fights.

Looks like Team Plasma is full of aspiring young Gents. Also apparently scientists are Schoolgirls. All of them.

Platinum run through... after a terrible battle against Crasher Wake pretty early in to the run where Gliscor was my only survivor, we have finally made it to the elite four. Gliscor became the hero of the game and has tackled almost everything in the game so far, including 3/4 of the elite four so far. Can I beat the game with only my Gliscor? Time will tell.

Managed to catch a Clefable that I traded for the Espeon in Pewter so I could evolve Babel to a Gengar, but debating whether or not to use her under the dupes clause. What do you gtuys think? Box her permanently, leave her for use, or release immediately?

Also caught Buzzy the Venomoth on Route 25 and gonna train her and Babel up to take Misty on.

Lost Skiddo in a double battle just outside reflecting cave, and SassyNinja to Korrina's Hawlucha. I find it hard to carry on sometimes when my starter dies, but knowing I could get Lapras on the next route motivated me to continue.

Emerald. Almost got knocked out at Wattson's Gym because the battle house got my starter and another. Gyarados(!!!) was the only survivor of that battle, being able to finish up with 1HP.

The run ended at the third member of the Elite Four, but making it that far after that embarrassing battle in Gym 3 is a miracle in itself. It was my first time playing Emerald, too.

Should I get Platinum, that will be my next Nuzlocke.

I think I may be screwed, I'm in Silph Co right now and I just now realized most of my team is poison and that's going to make beating Sabrina almost impossible.
Also the way I'm doing dupes is if I run into a pokemon I have, I try one more time. But if I run into another dupe for a second time on that route, I don't catch anything on that route.

First update of my first nuzlocke AND my first actual playthrough of Black.

So far it's definitely a bit different than the Pokemon I remember. I'm not sure if I find Bianca adorable or really annoying. Is she going to ambush me at every new town?

I'm both terrible at art and naming, it seems. Writing was always my thing so I might be doing that. Ganon's name is obvious and like most starters in a pokemon game, he's kicking ass everywhere.

Pupperoni I regret getting, kind of. Not because she's bad, but because it's an adorable yappy dog and I own a small yorkie in real life. I just /know/ Pupperoni will be dead by the end of this.

Betsy was named so because I thought Patrat was a play on "patriot" instead of "patrol". Surprisingly, she's the second strongest in my team. For some reason her bite attack causes flinching almost EVERY TIME. Iv'e flinch-locked my way through so many trainer and wild pokemon battles with her.

DonkeyBong is a lazy ass stoner who has the eternal munchies, apparently. At least he's serious about it. Haven't got to use him yet, but i'm right before my first gym.

Also I picked the name Omlette because I was typing something else, messed up somehow and ended up with "Omle". I figured i'd just go with the rest of it.

Finished off Soul SIlver today. It was probably the shortest run I've done at just three days. Espeon, Politoed, and Raticate carried me. Fearow and Stantler (rip) were basically back up and extra coverage. Shiny 'dos was an HM Slave/Meat shield.

Update, Rhydon as I was leaving the Frost Cavern and that was pretty much the last important death, got a Cubone and Shuckle before the Team Flare arc but neither were very good so I just used my main four which admittedly have trouble against electrics. The Lysandre battles went really well especially considerng M-Gyarados missed Aqua Tail twice against Vivillon. I got nothing special on the routes leading to Snowbelle(and killed my Terminus Cave catch) but I got a Bagon and Machop on Route 21 and the Forest respectively.

I'm considering training either Bagon or Goomy, not sure which but I'd probably use Bagon purely out of preference.

Managed to defeat Ramos with no issues, Wiz and Hotsauce practically swept the whole gym.

Completed the team Flare event at the power plant and had a couple of close calls, I can always rely on switching to the tank that is Slappy the Lapras to take a couple hits.
