There is really no reason this should happen OP. Even most of the random strangers on vp are pretty reliable to trade with, mainly because no one wants to be called out for being a fraud. I have yet to get cheated trading mons on vp

Not owning a router isn't terribly unlikely. Not that guy, but I live in a college dorm and we do not have wi-fi except in actual college buildings so we need to use LAN cables. Owning a router here can net you a 300 euro fine.

If you cant even find one person in your life; even if your good friends with them online, that you can trust to trade, then maybe you should take a step back and reassess yourself. Pretty much anyone on vp you can trust and as said before, you knew there were pokemon you needed to trade for to evolve before buying the game so its your own fault for buying a product you knew you wouldn't fully enjoy. I might of agreed with you in the previous gens when trading was slow and you could really only trade with people who were near by, but there are no excuses in X and Y that you shouldnt be able to get those mons.
