Main hero was still Red, hir rival was still Green (Gary's started was Squirtle, Green's here is Eevee). Red's sprite was fixed and reused in G/S/C. Brock and Misty's sprite were changed, but as you can see on TCG artworks still different from anime. I think Jessie, Joy and Jenny still looked different from their anime counterparts (eyes). AJ was just a random Youngster.
Jessie & James were in completely different places to anime. They and Grunts were absent on SS. Anne, they were not with Grunts in cave in anime, etc, etc.
