I've been off Pokemon since Platinum and have recently played White version and I have to say it is my favourite game of the series. I really like the sprites against 3D looking backgrounds. It's a shame they opted for 3D everything in the new game.

This, a lot of 3D sprites look static and stupid.
Some of my favorites got absolutely butched by passing into 3D in such a rush.

I just want the feel of HG/SS. Honestly, I liked how the touch screen was managed on those games rather than the cluttered mess we got in X/Y. Also, I really wish we'd get back the ability to having the top spot Pokemon being able to follow the player.

Honestly, I don't know about that. The biggest problem with Nintendo is gaining new fans. Than what they have now, which is the long time fans now in there 30's and such.

And the way they put mixed 2D and 3D is flawless, they could've pushed it in X and Y and made the world more interesting. Same opinion I had when Marvel vs Capcom 3 revealed it'd be 3D models.

Only trainers in anime starts at 10. I still don't know why people think heroes in games are 10, it's far better idea to give them age from the manga (around 12), since for most their design is identical and characters in anime are younger (example is Serena, Ash).
And BW/B2W2/XY heroes are around 14~16, it was confirmed for at least BW they are teen.

The sprites in the game bothered me. That very fact that they tried to mesh 3D with pixel art is what created the calamity.

The battle sprites are unpleasant to look at because they were animated through chopping up and stretching a base sprite, with a few modifications. If you look at Crystal, the animations were done properly, frame by frame. It makes every other game with animated sprites look horrible.

They also did the stretching with the overworld and player character which would result in unproportionate pixel ratios. The game just felt cheaply made as a result.

Gen 4 looked the best. Really nice looking sprites, great UIs, and stretching pixels was kept to a minimum. If they wanted to do away with sprites, they should have just done 3D starting with Gen 5 instead of creating what they did.
