Team Rocket devises a plan so evil and brilliant that they will forever be known as the best anime villains.

they force a thunderstone on pikachu, forcing an innate personality shift like all pokemon when they evolve and causing an emotional tear between he and ash.

Doing that is just being spiteful, evil for the sake of evil. That's not really Jessie and James's MO. Their in it to make money, and do a job. Forcing a stone on Pikachu does not advance any given goal twords capturing Pikachu, or anything else that makes Giovanni see them as worthwhile.

And yeah, even if they had explicit instructions from the head honcho that if they captured this supposed powerful Pikachu that they had to evolve it before sending it over, Meowth'd probably moral them outta it. He kinda has a thing against that sorta thing.

Why hasn't Meowth evolved? The series canonically uses the level system which is why pikachu hasn't evolved, meowth has certainly had enough battles to evolve by now.

Also, think he'd lose his ability to talk?

Ash's Pikachu is probably the strongest one in existence and gets its power levels reset at the start of each region. They could probably try to contain or control that power somehow?

I don't know about Ash's pokes, but certainly other pokes belonging to his companions. I've already said, though, that apparently not all Raichu are inherently dickwads in the anime.

Meowth doesn't want to evolve, so he doesn't. IIRC there's an episode where Ash's Bulbasaur is supposed to evolve but refuses, Meowth's probably doing the same.

If Pikachu ever got exposed to a thunderstone, they'd just have high drama up until the point where Raichu remembers all of its journeying with Ash and they go back to being absolute bros.

Then Ash could officially start being competent, and he could act as a mentor character to a new fucking protagonist.

The reason why Team Rocket want's Ash's Pikachu is because of Pikachu destroying the veridian city pokemon center, which in fact wasn;t just Ash's Pikachu who did that. Keeping in consideration that it was multiple Pikachu AND Jame's koffing's smoke that caused it to explode. All in All, Pikachu is really really "powerful" when he;s exposed to something or when his electricity is mixed with something else. Ash's Pikachu is just like any other retarded Pikachu
