sup /vp/, Mega Heracross fan here. I really, no, REALLY like mega heracross, however, it seems like he never gets any love... yes, he IS 4x weak to Flying, but Mega Pinsir is 4x weak to rock, and Mega Scizor is 4x weak to fire, so... plus, it is not bad that they set him up with skill link, for he has the highest possible attack stat in the game (I'm pretty sure), and the ability to learn Pin Missle, Bullet Seed, Rock Blast, and Arm Thrust.

So calling all Mega Heracross Fans!

In effective attack #1 is Mega Mawile, and in base attack #1 is Mega-Mewtwo-X, iirc.

There isn't any rock or fire moves that have 120 BP priority...

Mega Medicham and Mega Mawile are both effectively higher, with 250 (jolly) and ~260 (adamant,) respectively.

Mega Heracross is still legit though. It actually hits harder than Mawile since its STABs and coverage are all higher powered (close combat's 120 BP and Pin Missile's 125 BP compared to Play Rough's 95.) Mega Medicham hits way harder though, with High Jump Kick but Heracross is a lot bulkier than it.

The thing I like about heracross though, is that he doesn't have a skill that boosts his attack stat and he still has a attack stat higher than Deoxys Attack (just by 5 points, but still)

Only reason that was necessary for Mawile was because its BST was so low to begin with. And Pure Power is cham's "thing."

If they didn't have an arbitrary "+100 BST on megas only" they wouldn't have had to do that. Mega Alakazam only gets +90 anyway.

I hate how its dex entry mentions that it builds up so much heat during fighting, hence the chest-vent and arm-flaps revealing multiple hole during some animations, YET its not expanded on in some way; it gets Skill-Link instead.

I guess it kind of works, attacking multiple times in a row would use up a lot of energy, but I'd rather it got a unique ability like M-Pinsir did. Something to do with the excessive heat theme, like;
Radiate; physical moves without effects now have a 30% chance to Burn the foe.

At least it means I wouldn't have to breed a Heracross with only multi-hit moves just for the purpose of a predictable M-Heracross set.

You only need Bullet Seed if you're afraid of Azumarill or Rotom, and in the case of Rotom I prefer staying un-Mega to bait the WoW, activate Guts and shit on everything

A little better.

The thing I don't like about Mega Alakazam, and some other megas, is that they're almost all just simple stat increases. I mean Alakazam gets trace but stuff like Medicham, it got just better stats; it would be better and more interesting if, say, it got an ability that doubled SpA too. Same problem Abomasnow, Scizor, Blaziken and others have. Charizards, now those are well designed megas (not talking about appearance.)

Game Freak should've given it something else though. Psychic being resistant to and strong vs Fairy would've made it less awful. Even marginally higher defenses would make its life easier in Knock Off: The Metagame. A stronger Psychic-type move would be nice.

It just kinda sucks since Alakazam is one of the better designed Megas.

How bad exactly? Because it was banned from UU for really good reason.

Is it it's speed? Boid weakness? Cause that's really it, it hit hard as hell and has a good amount of bulk.

It can also OHKO Deo-D, which is pretty useful.

As a wall breaker, Megacross has competition primarily from the following things:

Kyurem-B (unable to reliably break through Ferrothorn and mega scizor, stealth rock weakness)
Mega Charizard-Y (countered by Lati@s, unable to break through Chansey)
Mega Garchomp (needs sand support)
Banded Terrakion and Specs Keldeo (both need to be choice locked to break through stuff, Balloon Aegislash is a pain for Terrakion and Lati@s counters Keldeo, Mega Venusaur walls keldeo pretty well)
Mega Medicham (unreasonably frail, very few switch in opportunities, countered by Aegislash)
Mega Gardevoir (countered by Scizor and Aegislash cut can at least burn them on the switch. Ferrothorn also checks it)
Mega Mawile (serious trouble with will-o-wisp but no, there's not a lot that can counter it. "it has 4MSS" is the worst I can say about it)

And Mega Heracross: its coverage is so good and its typing is not actually that bad. The only common wall it has trouble with is Skarmory, who can't switch in anyway.
