And no, she would never be called "Leaf" by creators. You see, Kanto and Johto heroes (before Crystal) had names associated with games, colour names. Leaf made literally zero sense to Red and Green.
It's either colour names like Blue or real names like Brendan, not "leaves" or "fires".
