I love Game Freak (and Pokemon in general) to death, but Pokemon is clearly one of the biggest cash cows in the gaming world.
They will milk it dry and sell the product fresh from the udder, sometimes without even making sure it's ready to consume.
I think that's what they did with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y so that they could make even more money by putting extra features into whatever other 6th Generation main-series game(s) they put out right after the current two games.
