why is there no one talking about kecleon? he's always been shit since he's been first released but this generation gave him PROTEAN.

>has a HUGE movepool; via move tutor in B2/W2 and TMs
>such moves include elemental punches, Drain Punch, Knock Off, Stealth Rock, etc.
>has a great special defense base stat
>an alright attack base stat

I've seen it pull off AssVest sets alright in the lower tiers. Usually has something like Drain Punch, Shadow Sneak/Fake Out, Sucker Punch and a filler move.

He's too fucking slow. The only thing Protean lets him do is being a better special wall since the opponent can't just choose his type now. He's also great in doubles since he can Skill Swap his Protean to a team mate but that's about all it can do.

It really is. I was also looking forward to using him but always moving second means you can't change your type before a super effective attack hits you, like Greninja can do. He's doomed to either hoping the opponent doesn't have many coverage moves or always using priority moves. That said, he's an excellent partner to my Slaking in doubles because of Skill Swap. Protean Slaking fucks shit up.

The problem is all of the best moves he could use with Protean are Gen V Move Tutor only.

I managed to transfer a shiny Color Change Kecleon with Fire, Ice, Drain Punch and Knock Off to gen VI, forced it's ability to change to Protean. It's allowed in Wi-Fi battles, too. I run him with Assault Vest.

This exact Kecleon is actually on Pokecheck if you're looking to go download and bank it.

I used a skill swap color change kecleon all the time back in the day. If it kills just one pokemon, its done its job and win or lose i'm happy that keleon did something.

I actually genned one similar to that. Knock Off* / Drain Punch / Thunder Wave / Power-Up Punch with Protean and transferred it over.

Shame I can't use it on Showdown though.

Also have an identical Kecleon with Shadow Sneak, which does come in handy.
