I have an updated picture. I know a lot of these are on the edge of purple. I'm just hunting anythign that seems vaguely pink while shiny.

In 3rd gen, whichever way you try to hunt will have the same odds of encountering a shiny (1/8192), so pick the method that gives you the most Electrike/Manectric encounters in the least time.

Oh, and remember that, while Static will only work in Emerald, Emerald has a rather dumb way to check for shiny encounters (a base version of the RNG that'll be used on later gens) that'll make you either see a shiny on the five first minutes or see no shiny on half an hour. So if you're playing Emerald, I'd advise you to make your hunting sessions as long as possible.

yes especially with gen 6 breeding mechanics there is no reason to gen pokemon if you cant find the time to breed pokemon the you should just play on a simulator genning is not ok by any means.

Cheating for shinies is pointless if you consider yourself a shiny hunter, it takes the challenge out of it.
But I am tempted to get a Powersave just so I can back up my save file and do nuzlockes etc.

not completely. Making an overpowered mon is bad, but I have used pokegen in the past when I had no way of transfering some of my older pokemon to newer games, i'd just recreate them as best I could using their stats and EV calculators.

I have only every MMd 2 shinies (Feebas, got two in a row), and I did use a japanese 6iv Ditto for that. It's just way more convinient. I tried MMing for a cyndaquil, and used a legit 6iv french cyndaquil for that but never got the shiny after 118 boxes of trying.

I go for shinies I like, but sometimes I go for them just to have a few for trades, like with other /shw/ers doing their personal challenges I like to be helpful and offer a trade if I have something they need.
But for the most part, the shinies I have are either ones I hunted for, or ones I ended up getting in an area where I hunted for something else.

My lampent has a neutral nature and IVs in Hp and Attack. I'm still gonna keep him anyway.
One of my pumpkaboo is careful with IVs in HP and Sp.Def and one of the Dusclops is also viable, but I don't remember exactly what it was. I traded 2 pumpkaboo away.

This talk of shiny karrablast/escavalier reminds me of the only shiny not in my shiny box since it's competitive worthy, a 31/31/31/x/31/31 shiny Swarm Escavalier with Drill Run, Knock Off, and Megahorn.

He's so perfect (kind of; I don't run trick room so the 31 speed isn't an issue for me), that sometimes I assume people will think it's genned.

I definitely prefer shiny Accelgor to Escavalier. I was only trying to breed for Nature/IVs for my "Favorite from Each Generation" team and the Adamant 5IV I was looking for happened to be shiny.

See previous comment with regards to shinies in particular, but in general I don't think it's a huge issue. Again it's mainly that you cannot differentiate legitimate from the genned. I don't see an issue if you want to recreate something from gen I or II, or emulators.

No, but I don't see any issue with using it. I personally don't care about competitive stuff so IVs don't matter to me. I do have a Jap Ditto that I got off GTS, but I don't know how good it is.

Honestly, it's HP isn't great but its defenses are so astronomically high that it needs all the HP it can get to take advantage of it. If I was you, I'd say my ride is only beginning.

Source: I use a physically defensive Aegislash and it decimates shell smash Cloyster. After gen5, I have never been happier to sacrifice attack power to check ONE threat.

I had no intention of my Aeglislash being a wall whatsoever. I wanted it to simply be a mixed attacker. If it sucks in battle I will go on the ride again, but I will be pissed if the next one is missing an IV attack or special attack.

hmm well if you every want to really know, you could have a battle and check the egg counter. It keeps track of how many eggs you hatch so you can figure out what box your on, but that's only if you're really curious. But man 60 boxes, sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get it soon. well basically the game keeps track of how many eggs you hatch. When you are in battle, there are stats that are displayed while you are battling and one of them is how many eggs you've hatched. If you haven't hatched many eggs, before MMing it gives you a general idea of how many boxes you're in.

well timid should probably be the nature you're going for if you're still set on Espeon. But just note that changing parents won't really decrease or increase your odds as long as they are both different language tagged. Every egg has the same chances of being shiny.

I say that like I have been doing it forever, but a lot of shit happened the past two weeks, so I am only actually 10 boxes in.
Hopefully I can get my act together soon and start burning through Boxes, although from what Steel said, I could be one one of the longest hunts of all time.

He said he got his Shiny from fossil resetting after 80+ Boxes, and I have to do this for SEVEN Pokemon.

Strongly considering getting the Shiny Charm before I continue, but my god I can't be bothered.

Still, I think you'd go faster by testing your luck with Wonder Trade, by making a box of a poke you want as a shiny, then by constantly trading whatever you have on Wonder Trade until you have new species. In addition, the PokeMiles will be tradable for Rare Candies, PP Ups and Heart Scales, so it's really interesting in the end.

Also, Abi, what about my suggestion of a special /shw/ "Trading for Shiny Charm edition" ?

You could make a thread, perhaps later when more people are awake, and just have people trade for the sake of Dex completion. Doesn't really warrant the need to be a part of /shw/.

After I said that I had 25 boxes of Fletchling eggs to hatch, someone joked that I would get my shiny in the 1st box and have 24 boxes left to hatch. It turns out I got my shiny in the 3rd box, so I have 22 boxes left to hatch.
