>>18603377Proportions should be the same. Color variation can occur (and who knows, maybe that will be one of the things they add in a future generation, along with Pokemon that are slightly bigger or larger, it's not that hard to do), but the general proportions should stay the same.
>you consider a shitty sprite for someone else it could be the best oneLook at fucking DP Gliscor. No one in their right mind would consider that good. Not only is it shit at portraying how Gliscor is intended to look. Look at Houndoom in RSE. There is such a thing as bad taste. You're the one being stupid as fuck here, because you like ugly sprites. If you're gonna be a militant 3DPD spritefag, pick good sprites at least. Or Pokemon that look worse in 3D.
Of course, and I'm a spritefag myself. I don't think some series should ever make the jump to complete 3D, Vanillaware's works included. Disgaea too, now that they've gotten off their ass and started making crisp, beautiful HD sprites. But Pokemon deliberately tries to capture all the charm and feel of sprites while being 3D with all of 3D's benefits. As GameFreak gets more experience, this will only improve.
You said 3D is soulless, so yes you don't like Ni no Kuni's artstyle because it's 3D in the first place. Shit, Pokemon and other cel shaded games aren't even "plain 3D." You can bitch about 3D Pokemon being soulless when the style resembles every other 3D game out there. It doesn't. You can get the same range of artistic expression with 3D games.
>thinking cute as fuck 3D Spinda is soulless>>18603397The costs to create 2D animated sprites would not be a feasible return on the money they'd have to pour into it. Not nearly. Maybe a spinoff featuring a small pool of Pokemon, but not the full dex. 719 Pokemon, at least 3-5 different animations for each one, and then Amie or whatever gimmick they'd use in the next game.
