I think that they tried but failed, so they just gave up. That's why the chat box is disabled. Pokecheck will be dead when nintendo stops supporting the wifi for gen 5 and 4. They say that pokecheck isn't supposed to be affected by it, but I'm sure that's not true.

I guess I'd be embarrassed, too.
Could you imagine trying to make a huge project out of it, and being so excited to be a popular website for genning/checking gen 6 pokemon? With how hard it is? How embarrassing would it be to keep trying to make it work and all of your plans for it ended up not working? I'd probably turn off the chatbox and abandon it, too. Maybe that makes me a pussy.

The reason being that Nintendo is shutting down their servers for it, but Pokecheck works by intentionally not calling Nintendo's servers. The game doesn't know anything weird or different is happening, and they can't patch it.
