the game forces tutorials and npcs telling you what to do for the first hour of the game or so, it sucks

FR/LG had a very quick tutorial as far as pokemon games go, I don't know which was worse though, pearl/diamond's intro or black/white's. HG/SS was alright too.

original G/S/C you could skip all the tutorial you wanted, including the annoying one about catching Pokemon, they got it right in 2nd gen

I didn't need a tutorial on how to go to the Pokemon Centre, nor did I like being forced to do PokeWood (although then again didn't they sort of force you to do Musicals in BW?), but they're just minor things to get through at the start of the game.
