Can we have a moveset/team brainstorming thread? Just a place to bounce ideas off one another?

I'm trying to help a friend of mine put a team together. I know he likes Avalugg, and I think it could make a decent physical wall. What do you guys think about this moveset?

Curse+Recover is really the only way to play Avalugg. You can use pretty much anything you want for attacks.

If you have a ditto safari it isn't uncommon to find ones with a 0iv somewhere. Hunting for one specifically with a 0in speed would take a little time though.

I think I have one on my list. I'll grab a few and see if I can't get one with 0 speed.

What ability do you think would be best for this? Ice Body isn't that helpful unless we decide to use Abomasnow, and Own Tempo and Sturdy both have their merits.

Oh, speaking of Aegislash, a quick question:

If I'm running a Brave Aegislash with 0 Speed IVs, should I use Iron Head or Gyro Ball (or neither, considering Sacred Sword, Shadow Claw, and Shadow Sneak are also options)?

I run Klefki with a defensive nature, EVs in defense, HP, and Sp. Atk.
Big Root
-Swagger
-Draining Kiss
-Calm Mind
-Iron Defense
ID raises your defense x3 on the first use, which makes Klefki a physical wall, especially against EQ.
The Big Root ensures that you regain 98% of the damage dealt so it has awesome sustain.
Only issue is the 10 PP on draining kiss.

In general you should almost always carry Shadow Sneak and Sacred Sword, together they give you almost perfect coverage.
Your last two moves are really up to you. I like Quiet with Shadow Ball because it's insanely strong, but if you're on a +Atk nature Iron Head might work.

That said though I'd take Iron Head over Gyro Ball, I don't think Aegislash's speed is QUITE low enough to make Iron Head that strong- plus most of the things you can't already kill with either SS are slower.

Think about it.

A non-power trick Aegislash is only good for defend, strike back, defend type of playing.

JUST LIKE A SWORD AND FUCKING SHIELD.

Great Aegislash moveset

Aegislash @Weakness Policy
•Gentle Nature (+Def -Spe) or whichever is (+SpDef -Spe)
•Stance Change (obv)
-Swords Dance
-Sacred Sword
-King's Shield
-Shadow Claw

Easy peasy, take a hit, SD, take a hit, switch to Blade form, fuck up whatever smacked you twice. If it doesn't die first hit, King's Shield that mofug and try again next turn. The Attack drop for contact moves is really on your side. If you have perfect IVs and 252 EVs in both defenses, or one of your defenses and HP, and 4 in whichever is left, you'll eat some monster hits. When you switch stances, your Def stat and your SpDef stat literally switch with your Atk and SpAtk.

That's the entire fucking point of Aegislash.

Why the fuck would you want shadow sneak, a PRIORITY MOVE on a Pokemon that clearly isn't meant to strike first without having some sort of back up? Aka Power trick.

I know. But if you're going to give him a priority move, at least make it so he won't be taken out in one hit after that move. Giving shadow sneak to Aegislash is suicide unless his defenses in blade form are good, which power trick do.

I think power tricking him in general is stupid, yes. But so is shadow sneaking him. Unless you're going for a game winning hit. But if it misses, say due to lowered accuracy or increased evasion, you're fucked.

Me and 2 buddies did a roulette game where we chose teams. We only got to choose a starter and a mega, the regs was all randomized. Ironically enough, we all got multiple Pokemon that could be megas. So changing our Megas is indeed possible as long it was one of the ones we randomly got.

-Dragon Pulse

This is the best set for doubles.
Use it with a trick room supporter, and teach it Rain Dance.
Slowking/Slowbro are perfect partners.
If you want to use it in Single battles, try fast nature + Agility, and Thunderbolt instead of Thunder.

I know. But it's a priority move that's for his playing style. The defend, attack, defend bit. So that way, when you attack second, you're not left open first turn of next move and you can use King's Shield.

I've been using Amphy in singles and while the agility set is shitty at best, the pivot set is amazing. It fits in standard VoltTurn teams perfectly, Amphy's VoltSwicht is as strong as Spec's Rotom-W.
Go modest with 20 Spd/ 232 HP/ 252 Sp. Atk (20 spd to outspeed and 2HKO Hippo) with Volt Swicht, Dragon Pulse, Focus Miss and in the last slot Ampharos can run Heal Bell or Sleep Talk, Heal Bell is my favorite because this set best teammates are U-turners like Scizor and Landorus who lure Rotom-w and you know how much he loves to Will-O-Wisp. Sleep talk lets you check Breloom.
Pair it with Scizor, Rotom-W, Lando, Tyranitar, or even Ferrothorn.
