Gen 2 had it's own charm with it's thick black borders and few colours. It's nice in it's own way but surpassed by the newer games. Gen 6 has the best graphical design yet.
although personally I'd like to see a "retro-mode" item that, when turned on, changes the shaders to remove the shadows and thicken the borders for that Gen 2 feel

2 is great but it's a little forgettable, which is my issue with it. The only gen I felt where most of the Pokemon were eh was 4.

2 is easily the worst. Very memorable designs but only memorable because of how bad they are. Stantler, Unown, all the baby shit, fucking Meganium... big goddamn waste of space.

gen II introduced baby pokemon and brought on a lot of non-viable non-evolvers. Then there were the pokemon who were visually similar to older pokes

4th gen did rectify that somewhat, though a lot of the introduced evos have questionable aesthetics.
