Wholesomely disagree with what you said in regards to the characters, I don't think a single one was good. The partner was annoying and needy, the guild were useless, Grovyle was stoic (personal pet peeve of mine) and Dusknoir was an incredibly obvious bad guy. The pacing was also kind of bad. With no characters I liked, filler stuff really sticks out, especially when it's the entire first third of the game.
That being said, I did hear of the special episodes in Sky, maybe they really step up the game there. One of my friends has sky, are the episodes replayable, because I might be able to borrow it if I don't have to wipe his data.
