I'm all for game series continuing to evolve and advance as they go on (as is only natural), but that sounds like a radical and pointless change. Pokemon has been defined by being an accessible-yet-deep RPG series that boasts a massive repertoire of characters, an incredibly strong multiplayer component (which is pretty weird for the genre), and a great deal of exploration elements - all in a charming and enjoyable package. To me, increased graphical fidelity, further gameplay refinements and new ways to interact with the in-game world would be cool things to see going forward (like riding Pokemon everywhere, etc.).
But a realistic-style FPS? That's completely antithetical to the series. Not to mention the gaming market is drowning in them right now - I can't enter a store that sells games without seeing three brand new major first person shooters a month. If my FPS needs are already being met (although in honesty, they're being far over-met), then what could a Pokemon variation possibly add that would make me want to play it?
