>>18649610I hold this as my personal headcanon, so it's good enough for me, but I believe the theory holds merit. The anime isn't really anything to go by, but there are plenty instances there of different sized pokemon if you want something within the franchise to point to. Speaking from a purely logical standpoint though, pokemon are living creatures and there is always size variance within species. Humans themselves cover a huge range of height and build difference. Pumpkaboo/Gourgeist have four different formes based on their size. It may not be a huge difference in some cases, but I would definitely give the average sizes a +/- 1.5 feet range. It may seem extreme, but when you consider that most pokemon are already sizable for animals and their physiology is pretty fantastical, I don't see an issue there.
I also have general issues with some pokemon sizes. Dunsparce being 4'11" long is ridiculous. It's portrayed as tiny in the anime and it LOOKS like it should be tiny. Then there's the opposite with pokemon that should be much bigger, but aren't. Regigigas and Zygarde look like they should be MUCH larger than they are, but are actually dwarfed by fucking Steelix, while Metagross and Avalugg look like they should be about the size that Regigigas and Zygarde actually are. Personal headcanon on Avalugg, though: being a living iceberg I like to think that in a proper arctic environment with an open body of water to grow in, Avalugg could grow exponentially larger, to the size of some colossal icebergs. The smaller ones found in game are the result of warmer climates and not enough freezing cold waters to contribute to their size.
