Can anyone provide an argument for implementing a Light/Saint type?

Since Dark is already weak to Fairy, then it stands to reason Light is weak to Dark, not the other way around. In GameFreak's logic, the Fairy-type is loosely associated with the moon, so it stands to reason that a Light type would be associated with the sun.

As for the actual type, Light could be a useful way to buff up some underperforming types (Dark, Grass), but if any more Normal-type moves are retyped, that typing is going to get assreamed like a sorority chick.

Giving that ability to more than 2 or 3 Light mons is almost guaranteed to produce broken shit.

There's also the question of type niching (Fighting with Attack, Fairy with Sp. Defense). The only thing really left is HP, and that could be difficult, although I can see Belly Drum and a few new moves that function like it but increase other stats being used in conjunction with Sitrus/Recover/Recover clone to give Light mons enough balk to not die on the next hit. But, again, this could be extremely broken, especially in conjunction with Baton Pass or Psych Up.

Overall, Light/Saint would require some very out-of-the-box thinking to pull off successfully, but it could promote healthy type balance if done correctly.

GF just barely managed to not make Fairy sound fanficcy, Light/Saint type legit sounds like some 13 year old BotDF creation.

light type includes:
Sunkern, Sunflora, Espeon, llumise, Volbeat, Mareep, Flaafy, Ampharos, Finneon, Lumineon, Manaphy, Phione, Cresselia,
maybe the Clefairy line and the Elygem line. Milotic should have been fairy-type. Sound type is equally viable but I'm certain it won't be realised. Stuff like this is the object of fan-games.

You need to quit thinking in such binary terms. You've been brought up thinking if someone says "elements" they mean "fire, water, wind and earth" instead of...the periodic fucking table.

You think light = dark, fairy = dragon, fighting = psychic. Pokemon doesn't work like that and it never has; it's kept itself unique by giving more practical, real-world attributes to types rather than Digimon-like WATER > FIRE > WIND > EARTH.

Sun = Grass, Fire, Psychic
Moon = Dark
Rain = Water, Electric
Hail = Ice
Sand = Ground, Rock, Steel

Ok, let's do this one more time. Dark is NOT evil. I don't care what it's called in Japanese. I've seen other things be called evil and they're not really. It might be unruly, but that's it. Headcanon? The amie doesn't really portray any pokemon badly. Are we going to argue which parts of the game count and which don't? (I know we already do) I hardly see any effort arguing at all when the franchise has no universal standard. Besides, Fairy is already some of what Light would be. It's the fully realized Power of Friendship.

well, this is interesting. there 14 types, and only 6 stats, so it means light can have a dou of stats as a niche.
i go for the exta stats- accuracy. light have better chance of hitting enemies, as well as good hp.
ofc, accuracy is always the same, but light will be more about moves that don't miss/ raise accuracy (either directly or as additional effect) as well as, naturally, healing moves.

I think a Light-like type should have no effect on grass type pokemon. A whole lot of grass type pokemon would suddenly become viable just for that alone.

But darkness is an eventual constant, no? Light requires a continuous source of energy to remain present, whilst darkness does not, and can theoretically remain eternally if light is not present.

Morning Sun is currently Normal-type, not Fighting or Psychic. Espeon and Solrock are the only Psychic-types associated with the sun.
