Basically me and the gf have been watching a bunch of random old Pokemon anime episodes because she loves Togepi. We watched a fair few, and when we eventually watched the two final episodes with Togepi, it hit me hard.
It feels like a chunk of my childhood was destroyed. I remember first watching the show as a kid, Ash first finding the egg, waiting for it to hatch, wondering what the fuck a Togepi was when it did. Finally getting Togepi in GSC, never levelling it because it was crap.
I stopped watching Pokemon around the time Orange Islands was airing because it became dull to me. But Togepi was always there, almost from the beginning. I never knew that he left the show.
I don't know why it affected me so, but my childhood is in pain.
