Think back to the first time you ever made it to the Elite Four. Which version was it, when was it, where were you (home, bus, etc.), and were there any notable takeaways from the experience? For me, it was Blue version, on the Fourth of July, at a family friend's house, and, despite having read as much Pokémon as someone could over several months, it wasn't until battling Lance that I discovered that Ice was strong to Dragon. I swear, it never said that in any of the books. Nevertheless, the finish was just as memorable.

It was Gold version for me. I think I was home. The I only thing I remember was sweeping all of them with only my Feraligatr.

Red version, I was at home. I over-leveled my Charizard and nothing else, and therefore lost to Gary. Always made sure to have a well balanced team after that. After 14 years, I decided to complete Yellow version last month. Felt good.

Red, some school day, bus, and the whole bus went apeshit when I told them I beat Pokémon. Then the bus driver told us to shut up and threatened to toss my GameBoy out the window.

The first game I got was platinum. Since I never used anyone except Infernape, all of my other pokemon were too weak, Bertha cause a hell amount of problems and so did Cynthia's Garchomp and by whenever I did reach her, my pps were stupidly low. I was able able to win because I went and caught a weak Snover and Sneasel with ice shard Since then I've learned to balance out my team more.

>>18677552 Blue Version
At home, after school on a Friday - I saved upon reaching Indigo Plateau earlier in the week and didn't advance (just fighting wild pokes in Victory road until my team was more or less evenly levelled - Fearow and Charizard were like 10-15 higher than everyone else) until I was sure I could play through the Elite Four uninterrupted.
I remember mostly using 2 pokes per E4 member, and saving Charizard for Blue.

>>18677552 It was Red version, I was around 7 I guess. It was at home, or maybe at my elementary school, and I remember dreading fighting against Lorelei's Dewgong, because it was always excruciatingly difficult to beat. The last battle against Blue was the most satisfying battle, though I don't remember much of it. It felt good to finally have my Pokemon in the Hall of Fame. All I remember about my team is that I had Charizard.

It was Gold version. I was at home, in the basement, keeping cool on a hot summer day. Something had fucked up earlier in the playthrough and I had a weird glitched level 230-ish Togetic which was just wiping the floor with everything. As a kid, it was like "hah, in your face game", but looking back on it, it was cheap.

Pokemon Red version here, back when I was about 8 years old I think. I don't remember how long it took me, I'd say about 20 in game hours. The last battle was as intense as it could get to me that's why I'll always remember exactly how it went down. My team was pretty balanced, consisting of: Venasaur, Nidoking, Tentacruel, Zapdos, Jolteon and I think Kabutops? The fight against Lance was pretty intense but I didn't feel satisfied for some reason. Sure he almost took down every Pokemon except for Venasaur and Tentacruel but still. That's when our beloved Gary MF Oak showed himself and I knew what was about to happen. I did surprisingly well and the mood really got the best out of me. (Epic theme + battle animations) That's when I noticed something - my battery almost dying. He sent out his Charizard and I got it sleep powdered...suddenly my battery died. I was close to crying since I thought I'd never make it that far again and that this battle was blessed with incredible luck anyway. I maned the fuck up, but in new batteries and challanged Gary again. He took down Venasaur, I used my last revive and sacrificed Tentacruel. Everything went kina good again but there was yet another obstacle. This time I expierienced something I never thaught of before: running out of ap. I never got to this point but now during the final battle it was about to happen. Again, I sleep powdered Charizard with my last AP. I literally thought to myself: "We struggeled for so long and now I can't even make the final attack because there are no ap left." Venasaur used struggle.
