Okay, guys.
I'm a 25 yo who recently bought XY cause I've a mighty long flight coming up and I wanted to get into Pokemon again. I haven't played since Sapphire, and I can't remember shit. Basically missed a handful of gens. I couldn't resist the urge to play, though, and I've beaten the Elite Four (with three Pokemon, period --at level 64) in a couple days playtime.
The game's now basically over, or rather, the story is. I'd like to get into competitive battling potentially, though, somewhere down the line. I understand it's fairly complex and I need help starting out.
So my question is: How did you guys start? Where did you start? Which guides should I read? Is there a cookie-cutter setup I should look out for? I also don't know how to breed, or get shineys.
