It's not so much why Kingler isn't a bug, but why Crustle is.

Hermit Crabs share some similarities with bugs that live on land. They're shelled creatures and have eye stalks like Snails, have pincers like Scorpions and have six legs like Spiders. They're also defenseless against birds, which is part of the reason why I maintain Crustle should be retyped to Bug/Ground.

Meanwhile, King Crabs are pretty much one of the faces of the crustacean family along with Lobsters.

Yeah, but there are some people who love Beartic who will never use it again if it turns into an Ice/Fighting type. If they buffed ice in some way, I'd be all for it, though.

What it needs to be is specially-focused instead, so it has a niche Garchomp does not have.
