Why was there a Pokémon war?

How can Pokémon Centers be free?

The Pokédex is viewed as an unreliable source, given it's written by a ten year-old. With so many scientists around, why hasn't an adult taken up the task him/herself?

Lt. Lurge is an American, so that probably makes that Japan wasn't at war with America for anything. Might have been for resources, since the powerplants are mostly abandoned. Might indicate that the fossil fuels ran out, and they switched to Electric Pokémon after the war.

Probably because the Pokémart shares profit with the Center. Dunno why, might be that the Pokécenter draws customers?

The more powerhungry ones might want to be better than wild Pokémon. Heh, that would make a trainer a tool.

Shit, it's probably done years before the player was born. I'd say it's just a way to keep the trainer motivated and feel like they make a difference.

Yes. I think they're not actually ghosts. If they were, the world would be completely overrun by Ghost types. Might not literally 'die' though, the way non-Ghost types do. Disappear?

In the war? All the time. Post-war? None. It would be the tale of the century and Pokémon battles would probably be banned alltogether.

Because their Pokémon protect them. Still, if you white out to a leader...meh. The player probably outruns them or something. Food for thought though. If you'd actually be in that world, you'd have the option to kill a member after you defeat him/her. Would you do it? As far as I know, there is no real Justice system.

It's probably some rite of passage thing. Kidlets get a taste of the world, then go back home and decide what they want to do with their lives, having witnessed the variety of options out there. It probably happens in groups, so they're not all gone at the same time.

Er. It would be fine if there wasn't always someone ready to shit everything up.

Flare Boss. Kidding, kidding. I'd probably get some kind of stupid job as a waiter / Pokemon groomer while my boyfriend studied to become a professor. Not too sure about anything after that. Maybe designing clothes for trainers or something. Or having an Oddish farm.

I don't think most of them are "ghosts" in the traditional sense- they're sort of more like spirits, if that makes sense? So, I'd say yes- they can be terminated.

Ulterior motives. Most people don't understand what's going on with Team _____ until the Big Reveal, so- if someone just up and killed a ten-year-old, they'd get noticed right quick.

Pokemon don't consider their trainer's as their masters. They consider them as partners.
They battle for them so they can either get stronger themselves, challenge themselves, or want to see their trainer succeed in their goals.

It's not written.

The Pokedex is some type of strange analyzer. It scans the Pokemon, somehow being able to scan the history behind it, how it came to be, and it's capabilities all from that one Pokemon.

Because it tries to gather all this information that it shouldn't have access to, it tends to make mistakes in its entries.

Both the anime and manga do things that fall under that classification.

Ghetsis also tried to do it to the player in Black2/White2

It's in their nature. Starters are bred to be docile, while wild ones challenge trainers to test themselves and allow them to be caught if they deem they worthy. Masterballs a shit.

It's all a big hoax to make kids leave their homes and lose some fat, while spending their parent's money on battles and battle-related items.

They try to, but they're shit. Smart evil doesn't reveal itself like that after all. If you're asking why they don't send many pokèmon out at once, it's because it's hard to control more than one.

There's probably a few massive corporations who control the market for potions, Pokéballs, etc. in any given region, and who also fund Pokémon Centers to encourage trainers to train Pokémon and to buy their products. Or the government runs Pokémon Centers due to popular demand, since they are as integral to people's lives as roads, electricity, or hospitals.

Because their Pokémon won't go there. This was a plot point in Colosseum: Team Cipher created Shadow Pokémon whose emotions were sealed and who would go as far as attacking humans—apparently something normal Pokémon refuse to do.

I headcanoned out pokemon lifespans, largely based on types. I would argue that ghost types live a very long time, since they don't need a whole lot to sustain themselves.

The earliest pokemon battles were gladiatorial arenas were they fought to the death. Then this became more of an olympic sport, after it was deemed disgusting and dishonorable. In the modern times, it would happen very rarely, but it's still possible.

Really this is largely just game convenience.

The Mange really has some of the better story aspects of pokemon. The way battling is portrayed makes it much easier to understand why pokemon fight with trainers, and evil teams don't obey the rules all the time.
