It will take more years for a new DS to get released (first they need to do a 2DS XL, 1DS and 1DS XL), if you have the money and the model you want it available go for it.

if you truly want to be safe, wait for E3 to see if nintendo shows a new ds. nintendo always shows a new ds that will come out 2-3 before release. but it would still like around 2 years for it to come out.
