Pumpkaboo was found at the Granary Burial Ground, one of the oldest cemeteries in Boston. A ghost at a cemetery makes sense, and it has some notable burials there, but I was still a bit surprised - it wouldn't have made my list.
Harvard has a Dedenne. Harvard having a pokemon makes sense, but Dedenne seemed chosen at random.
MIT has a Rotom. Which makes sense given its prestige and influence in the history of technology.
(I tried some other places in the state, like Plymouth Rock, Provincetown, and a few other Boston landmarks, but found nothing. Can't say my search was exhaustive though.)
