Maybe. I remember thinking saying before the games were even released that I thought Ash's Charizard would come back for a final fight, and Mega evolve into Charizard Y, and duke it out with Megazard X, since the X version looks more sinister, and the features of Y would keep the familiar feel of Ash's Charizard.

But that probably won't happen. We'll probably never see Charizard Y in the show, and next gen, Nintendo is probably going to get rid of Y and act like it had never been conceived.

This movie poster gives me hope that Y will appear regardless if it's Ash's or not.

Mega Garchomp has been seen twice.
Mega Gardevoir for Diantha.
Mega Lucario for Korrina
Mega Absol for Ayaka
Mega Blaziken for Clemont's dad
Mega Blastoise for Siebold
Mega Scizor for some random trainer fighting Mega Absol
Mega Charizard X for Alan

That just leaves the Mega Mewtwos, Venusaur and Charizard Y unaccounted for.

It's not though. Opinions have changed over it as the metagame matured.

Stuff like Garchomp, Mawile, Gyarados and Tyranitar have found their niche and settled nicely. Can't say the same for Alakazam though.

The special moves are needed to kill the common Garchomp switch-ins. Draco Meteor brings Gliscor and Landorus-T down low enough on the switch to kill them off with a different move and Fire Blast kills Skarmory and Ferrothorn.
