I'm sorry, I've never on this board, and I bet this gets asked/explained all the damn time, but I'm just going to ask in hopes of a direct explanation. Super Training: What am I doing wrong? I guess I don't understand it. Here is what's going on. I've new to the game (obviously) and haven't played pokemon since gen 1. I've had the game about a week. And most of my front liners are about lvl 60-70. I'm going to be visiting some friends in a few days, and I want to have my line up complete. With that in mind, I've always (even since the days of gen-1) wanted to have at least one "wut" pokemon in my line up. Something that isn't powerfull in it's base stats, but fully built. Because of my casual run ins with Smash Bros, I want to lvl up a Jigglypuff as my "wut" choice. So, after discovering the Super Training feature (after ignoring it for 4 days, and missing the opportunity to use it for most of the game) I caught two wild Jpuffs, and bread them. From the Igglytuffs, I stored one at it's natural lvl 1 state, and began to work up the other. After a few hours of grinding, I maxed it out at the super training (got it up to lvl 8 first, for no raisen.). SO with the super trainer, I up a good amount into HP, Speed, and Spc. Atk., and a tad in Def. On the graph, it beats out many of my other pokemon in health, and it's Spc. Atk. is strong too. Then I began to lvl it up. I got it to evolve into a Jpuff at lvl 13 I think? Then I just grinded (ground?) my Jpuff until it's lvl 50... And even with it's super training, it's stats blow. I know that not all pokemon are created equal, but the ONLY thing that seems good about it is it's health. At lvl 50, it has more health than my gyrados at lvl 60. Everything else is shit. Practically no stat increases when it levels. It's usually health +4, Spc. Atk. +3 (or so), and maybe one other thing +1. Half of the stats are +0 every level. What am I doing wrong? Is it just impossible to get Jpuff to be worth a damn? out of type space

EVs/Super Training can only do so much, 63 max for 2 stats. Bottom line is Jigglypuff has fuck huge HP, and the rest of her stats are terrible.

>>18717857 Try checking out base stats on serebii or smogon that should make it clear why your poke is weaker compared to others

Beat the game, go to Kiloude, talk to the ace trainer in the left half of the building; he'll check your pokemon's IVs. The higher those are, the better. Wigglytuff is unfortunately still pretty trash even with max IVs because GF likes Clefable more, but a lot of people on cart don't bother breeding for max IVs/perfect natures, so doing so will give it the edge it needs. If you're not evolving it to Wigglytuff, I don't know what to tell you; I don't think even Eviolite can salvage Shigglypuff.

>>18717901 So there really isn't anything I did too wrong? It's just how limited that one is? Damn.
>>18717913 Looking at serebii, never been there before, what am I looking for/at? the bottom part where it talks about base stats and max stats and some sort of "nature"?
Also, if I do use my moonstone and change it into a Wigglytuff, does leveling it up start to do more again? In some sort of effort to catch it's stats up to maximum? Is it gradual, or is it a big leap? If going to Wigglytuff reccomended way for better stats, should I have done so when it was a lower level? I have the other Igglytuff, should I just start again with that one? How do I shot web?
Hey thanks for helping an idiot newbie guys, I'm guessing these questions are pretty damn common.

OP again, Another question, IF I just restart with my 2ndary Igglytuff and go to a Wigglytuff, is it better to do the super training as soon as possible? or wait until later? Does it matter what evolution stage I do it in? So basically: Lower level = better, or wait? And : lower evolutionary form = better, or wait until upper evolutionary form?

>>18717963 You can always run Eviolite on it, buffs it's Def/Sp Def by 50% of the total values.
What ability are you running on it?
Anonymous
>>18718013 It doesn't matter when you Super Train. You could wipe its stats with a reset bag and retrain it all over and get the same results. If you evolve it the stats are automatically recalculated, no leveling up required.

>>18718013 Battling gives you EVS based on what pokemon you defeat, so you need to either pay close attention to what you let it fight in order to get the right EVs, or just super train it completely first.
Also, make sure you're investing your EVs properly: Smogon's a good guide as to what niches it's useful for (though it's not updated for XY), so you can use that as a jumping-off point.
Finally, EVs only affect stats in multiples of 4, so just trash any small training bags you get. Tapping the screen a bunch with no bag equipped will let you find bags, and there's a reset bag that'll let you wipe your EVs completely if you cock up.

>>18718020 What Ability am I running on it? I don't know what that means.
As far as Items go, I'm still using the soothing charm thing (I was told that would speed up Iggly's transformation into Jiggly). And I haven't really changed it.
Currently, my Doublade is using the Eviolite, as it's my meat-shield. (Because I can't get Aegislash until post game, right? So until then, my Doublade benefits, is that correct?)

>>18718013 Lower level is slightly better because the pokemon would have no EVs, but with Super Training you can reset those anyways.
But it doesn't matter what level or evolutionary stage you do it at, as long as the EVs get maxed the result will be the same.
Not accounting for IVs or nature, but that's a whole other process altogether.

>>18718037 Ok, so If I use my moonstone on my Jpuff, Lennox, It's Wigglytuff form will get a significant stat boose to match the "EV"? (the cool graph?) As if I had evolved it into Wtuff from the get go? Correct? If so, cool.

>>18718058 You just need a Dusk Stone, one of the special Super Training things can give one
Anonymous
>>18718058 Jigglypuff has 3 possible abilities: Cute Charm, Competitive and Friend Guard. Since you're not post game yet you can't get Friend Guard so you're running one of the other two.
I believe you can find a Dusk Stone pre-E4 and evolve it, though Eviolite Doublade is still good. It's probably better just to evolve Jiggly into Wiggly and save the Eviolite for the sword. Soothe Bell will help you evolve Igglybuff, but it won't do anything in battle so as soon as you do evolve it switch it for something else.
>>18718077 Yeah, it'll get the stat boosts immediately.

>>18718114 Didn't know that. Huh... well, getting now.
So, just to clarify, evolving my Jpuff to a Wtuff will jump his stats? I shouldn't start over with an new Iggly?

OP here, I think you all helped get me a good idea of what to do, thank you all!

Oh shit, OP here, one last question. Ok, now have Wtuff, automatic improvement. Sweet. Now, her move set is Dazzling Gleam, Hypervoice, Thunderbolt, and Sing. Should I use the Pixie Plate or the Silk Scarf? I mean, I think it's pretty much an even choice, but does the Silk Scarf affect Sing's success rate or something, seeing as it's a normal type? If it doesn't, it's really just a toss up between stronger fairy type or normal type, and I'll probably go fairy type. Also, I have thunderbolt in there as a back-up element. just in case... but that's also why I have the normal type attack there too... so I want your opinion... should I get the Dream Eater TM and replace Thunderbolt?

If you're gonna still use a Pokemon in it's likeness, use Clefable. Infinitely better, since it can buff and keep healthy and smash heads all at the same time.
Thoughtless celestial !!tHnFiSDPCz5
you know, even if the stats aren't that great a pokemon can still wreck shit with movepools and abilities. what moves does your puff knows?

I try to keep my elements varied, so I always have something that isn't resisted by my foe. And sing is there because... well, it's classic.
