Both are pretty sinister looking Pokemon, both learn ONLY Normal and Dark type moves by level (besides Power Gem on Persian), both were associated with the only villain team for the first two gens, and both have Pokedex entries that state they're needlessly aggressive and violent. Why couldn't GF have just retyped them to Dark-type in Gen II?

Why isn't Poochyena and Mightyena Normal/Dark? Other than the fur color, there isn't really anything about Poochyena that makes it seem like a Dark type. Plus, it seems fitting for a common mon, and the typing is something that hasn't been done before.

Altaria's really not a Peng. Pengs are more like fish birds, not dragon birds. Fuck the editor of the Altaria page on Bulbapedia for getting that shit wrong.

Shit ideas aside, I saw this concept once about a mega for raticate in which it gained some bulk and a lot of attack, turned to steel type and gained the ability "tough as nails" or "iron will", by which all normal attacks turn into steel attacks.
I can't remember if they actually made a picture for it and I just can't find it or they just didn't.

Lucario, MegaCario and Edgezard have similar stylistics, yet none of them sports Dark typing.
Poke-Dark =/= sly/evil; edgy design =/= Dark type design.

Why wasn't Gallade retyped to Fairy/Fighting? Nothing in his combat use/design/characteristics implies having anything to do with being part Psychic, plus Psychic/Fighting is a horrible, inferior typing that needs insanely powerful abilities just to catch up with the rest of the crowd. It decays faster than other combinations, not to mention that it is now as common as Fire/Fighting.

Whew, I'm done with my quota of pure autism for today.

Simply swapping Steadfast for Pixilate would give a nice supply of gimmicks for his movepool.
No great loss, as Psycho cut has little use in any relevant battle and Steadfast is the single worst ability not named Truant or Slow Start.

Granbull, having the honour of being Fairy typed, doesn't look like your classic fae either.

Gallade's design is just enough for a physical-oriented Fairy.

Not to mention that such a retype is much sought after by galladefags at large, even moreso than futility of fixing his terribad typing and ability choice.

My guess is that they wanted both of these to have an easier time levalling up and provided this type change to strenghten these frail prevos. Applying your concept would bring some symmetry into the line, but that would have been just a cosmetic fix.

Actually, the only positive and noticeable effect of such a change would only partially limit the amount of people who want to see Gallade being repaired through slapping "Fairy" onto it.

Balacing of GF's own metagame, perhaps- -Cresselia is an absolute genocider within VGC's meta, giving it fairy-type advantage would turn it into a token M-Kangaskhan of double battles.

There are a couple of Pokemon that would benefit from a fairy retype without becoming broken as hell (Gallade comes to mind), but Cresselia isn't such Pokemon.

Sure, it would have risen in the single battle mode somewhat, but at the expense of fucking over VGC meta.

Yeah, if cresselia got fairy type, it would be neutral to pursuit and U-turn, its two biggest weaknesses. Also it would suddenly get a 4x fighting resist, meaning it can switch into even the strongest attacks and still wall. Not only that, it then gets STAB moonblast (a great move because it helps it weaken special attackers even more). And for what? A weakness to STEEL and POISON type attacks. Laughable.

Not to mention that regular Lucario and Mega Mewtwo X too have Steadfast as an ability, hence - unlike many of the shit abilities - there is ZERO legit chance that Steadfast will ever get boosted.

Either having Steadfast replaced with other ability or having a new one to round up the set would help Gallade... unless GF's intention is to wait all the way to gen7 to see how regular Gardevoir will be doing in the face of more fairy types entering the meta.
