The headcanon territory stuff is trying to fit Pokemon regions inside of real world locations.
Think of Poke'Earth as an entirely separate planet if you will. There isn't an America, or an Asia, just loads of regions, some connected to each other, some not. They are inspired by IRL locations, but don't actually represent them in the universe.
The only reference to an IRL location was Lt. Surge being the "Lightning American", which was actually retconned in Gen 5.
One thing I like is that even though they have established this kinda' Poke World, they've also established that characters still talk in accents, and other languages. The foreigners in Gen 5 each spoke in a different language, and Looker's text is written as if he is foreign, except for one of his appearances (Kalos if I remember correctly), implying that is his homeland.
>>18733130You may be confused about the Manga ages, because in the Manga, the characters actually age. I'm pretty sure that in the first volume, Red is 11, but he is currently 14 as of the latest volume, or something like that.
