Is it all Gardevoir or just Megavoir? I wouldn't be too surprised to see normal Gardevoir climbing to OU because of the new typing. 4x resistance to fighting and only being weak to poison and steel seems pretty good for a wall.

Fun fact: Greninja last month had the highest "negative" discrepancy when switching from base cutoff to the higher 1760 cutoff. This means Greninja's used more by people on the lower rank and gets high usage numbers due to being used by a lot of scrubs.

Contrast this to Aegislash who gets such a high usage because it's used by a lot of the top of the ladder who are given more weight.

Tyranitar, despite having a 4x weakness to fighting and being weak to steel, is a pretty good check. It is slightly faster than, with exactly 1 point faster than 'Slash. It can tank SBalls all day erryday and use Fire Blast to avoid King's Shield.

You can actually use any pokemon below OU in OU. People just tend to gravitate towards the most effective pokemon out of what's allowed.

Smogon just takes the ones with high enough usage (3.41% I think ) and "bans" them from the lower tiers so that lesser used pokemon can shine in those lower tiers (like Mega Houndoom). If Talonflame was allowed in UU, almost everyone would use it there as well so it gets "locked" into OU.

They chose 3.41% because that's the usage in where it's projected that you'll see that pokemon at least 1 out of 20 battles. I may have the numbers wrong but it's something like this.

Unweighted stats take everybody's usage data no matter what your rank is.
Weighted stats only count the pokemon used by people with a rank of 1760 and up because that's what's considered the rank of a "good" players.

They switched to only using 1760 stats because the low rank scrubs on the unweighted stats don't know any better and keep bad pokemon like Smeargle and Donphan in OU and keep good pokemon like Deoxys-D/S and Terrakion in UU.

Grass immunity doesn't mean much when most grass attacks are special, which means latias takes these perfectly. the SDef actually doesn't matter much, as they get 2HKOed by the same things, and while I agree goodra's movepool is better, the higher attack has no purpose. They're both either special tanks or all-out defensive "walls", and latias does both of these better.

Grass moves are relatively rare, and Dragon-types already resist them. And it's hard to call Goodra's movepool better when it inexplicably lacks Surf or any form of recovery better than Absorb, nor can it set up with Calm Mind.
As far as being Specially Defensive goes, that inability to restore HP seriously hinders Goodra's effectiveness. Latias can actually fill a set with nothing but clerical/recovery moves.

Gengar was BL for a time in ADV I think.

If Starmie ends the gen in OU (which it could if Aegislash gets b&) then Gengar doesn't have title "only one in OU since gen 1 5ever." It sucks because Gengar has gotten pretty much nothing but buffs every single gen while Starmie did what it did best for every single gen, and only fell to UU from sheer power creep.

I can't believe this... I'm not 1850 or anything, (between 1650 and 1750 in Ubers) but I almost never see Mega Gengar used at all. If there's a mega on the opposite team it's Blaziken or MewtwoX/Y.

Looking at the stats recorded there's no way Genesect, Chansey/Blissey, Arceus Ghost, Giratina, Skymin should have lower usage than Gengar based on how "standard" those mons are on teams.
