Wigglytuff and Azumarill are Moon Rabbits and shit

Out of all the fairies, Dedenne is the only one that doesn't look like it's inspired by any folklore creature. Its just a plain Dormouse. Thats funny though, cause its shittiest fairy competitive and lore wise as well.

With Dedenne you need look no further than, "This Pikaclone will highlight a new feature of this generationm just like Pichu for baby pokemon and Plusle/Minun for Double Battles.

that's a pretty shitty reason though. Pachirisu and Emolga didn't need to highlight shit. If they wanted fairy to be represented more maybe they should have re-typed legendaries like azelf instead of randomly giving it to a pikaclone.

Makes me really wish they kept the whole fairy types are related to the moon/aliens, and the scrapped alien story/plot in x/y. It would have been more interesting than the boring story we ended up with.

It's supposedly just a rumor but when you watch this episode it makes sense, considering they made Jigglypuff, Clefairy, and Togepi all "Fairy".

Also, "Fairy" has a decent capacity for various designs - and not all of them need to be super serious. Ever read a fairy (KEK) tale book, OP?

As for hypothetical ones for completion,

Make a flimsy-looking drake with ornate wings and - Ta-Daaah! - a Fairy/Dragon enters the stafe.

Slap a Fairy type onto a Gallade and you have a melee fae warrior.

They're both fairy dogs and that's the only thing they have in common. Sometimes a fairy dog is just a fairy dog, a lot of fairies aren't even from folklore.
