It can appear like that, but it's mostly because we're all here trying to have a fun time not going crazy, y'know?

We're actually a really helpful bunch, completely open to helping people out, sharing Breeding rejects and tips, hell some times there are giveaways, or fun little things we do to keep us sane.

We also have Multi-battles and shit, so there's usually something going on.

Only time it becomes circlejerkish is when we stray off topic, which happens occasionally, but hey, it happens when the only thing there is to talk about is IV's and eggs, especially if nobody has hatched or caught a Shiny for a few hours.

I guess circlejerk is a good way to describe it. We hang out and try to push each other on, and so most hunters adopt a nametag so we can easily identify one another, so we may seem overly-friendly and annoying to most newer hunters/outsiders. But it's done with good intentions at heart or so I like to believe.

I just think people who have browsed 4chan long enough feel the need to view anything as good or helpful is a bad thing so they develop a false shell. Originally, it was supposed to reference a thread in which people just met to socialize as if it was Facebook or some shit, staying almost completely off-topic, and unnecessarily using names.

Nowadays, simply being nice to each other in a thread can stir shitposters.

At a glance, it's easy to compare that to this thread, although we're almost always on topic, and the names are to identify people who are hunting specific Pokemon/Giving Pokemon away, as well as Safari Hunting purposes, so it's all justified.

I guess people don't really like it when it strays off-topic. Once we ended up talking about our pets, ones both deceased and yet amongst the living. Naturally stories were shared and people extended sympathies to one another, yet /vp/ isn't about dead pets. /shw/ isn't about dead pets. Im starting to think of the threads as being similar to one of those live shiny reaction videos on youtube, but we just post instead of skype with other hunters.

So when someone encounters a shiny we dont have 10 minutes of the annoying bullshit like "Ah mah gerd shineh lileep! what the fuhk how is this possible? I saw that straight away".

We talk about things between catches, and get a bit off topic but not enough to de-rail anything. Just enough to keep people talking.

We are just to nice not to shout in each others ears when we catch something.

The one I'm using is

Modest
Unburden
Weakness Policy
252 HP / 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Speed

>Draining Kiss
>Flamethrower
>Surf

Other options for moves are Dazzling Gleam for a stronger STAB (but then you miss out on recovery), Energy Ball and Psyshock, though I find that Flamethrower/Surf gives better coverage.

Why not just run a cleric set? Sweet Veil can be useful in doubles and triples seeing as it prevents Sleep, and Slurpuff gets both Wish and Aromatherapy via level-up. Slap on a STAB move and something else (coverage move, support move, status move, Protect) and you're all set.
