Platinum / Gen 4 Thread.

I'm stuck on Lucian or specifically his Alakazam and Espeon. My team is:

Luxray - 55 - ShockWave / Crunch / Thunder / ThunderFang

Absol - 50 - ShadowBall / Bite / Blizzard / SuckerPunch

Roserade (useless in this battle) - 47 - GrassKnot / Cut / MegaDrain / SolarBeam

Gastrodon - 55 - Waterfall / MudBomb / Surf / Strength

Infernape - 50 - RockClimb / RockSmash / FireBlast / CloseCombat

Staraptor - 49 - BraveBird / Defog / CloseCombat / Fly

I do know having HM moves on my team is a bad idea but I never use HM slaves and my team has made it this far without any major roadblocks.

My suggestion is to take the HMs off your battling party and give them more moves of varied types for coverage. You don't need three electric attacks on your Luxray, man.

Absol to 52, get Night Slash instead of Bite.

Sycker Punch should be good enough to priority Espeon and Alakazam down.

You are at the elite four. You don't need the fucking HMs during the elite 4. Put all the Hms on a slave if you need them that badly, swap out your party members as needed during routes where you need the HMs. And if you can't beat the average pre-e4 trainer using 2 or 3 mons then I don't even know how you got there in the first place.

As for Luxray, use your fucking TMs. I know he learns SOMETHING other than three fucking electric moves, I used one of the fuckers before in Platinum.

Fly is the only one I need and that is worth keeping so I think i will delete them. I checked and the move tutor in the frontier can teach him signal beam so that's impossible.

Cut is the shittiest shit to ever grace a pokemon game. Into the trash it goes.
Also, you might want to substitute SolarBeam, without sun support it's risky.
Mega Drain is surpassed by Giga Drain

Gastrodon: Pick either Waterfall or Surf then put something else in the vague slot

Infernape: Out with Rock Smash. It can learn Foul Play in the movie relearner, I think it might be useful

Staraptor: Get Aerial Ace instead of Defog

Blizzard was for Garchomp. I think I might replace Luxray with an ice/water pokemon in order to beat Garchomp or get Rotom wash if it can learn ice moves.
