Because, back since r/b/y we reset the entire game just to get another TM25, Master ball, etc items that can be just be obtained once.
Just ask a friend to keep your important items with them, upload the pokemon to bank and reset your game, big fucking deal.
I have 2x stones of my y version and I traded the exclusive ones for x stones.
Simple as that

Because they're one-off items which gives them inherently more value than anything else that can be reproduced in one way or another. They can be clones however, but anything as valuable as a Mega Stone is drastically reduced in value for anyone who has the ability to clone by virtue of the fact that anything with an infinite resource has no actual value. It's simple economics, wake up sheeple.

Most megastones trade fairly easily

But the ones that attach to competitive pokemon like Tyranitar, Aggron and Gengar will never be traded.
