i never actually played the tcg but being able to OHKO nearly everything in the Base Set and able to use any Energy seems pretty fucking good to me

It's pretty bad in the metagame since the only good cards are the one's that aren't reliant on energy

Like Electabuzz,Hitmonchan,Scther and Machop.

Also Blastoise and Gyarados/Dewgong.
