well it was mainly because of the fact that networks won't give the series a full minute anymore.

Notice how the most recent ones are all only 30 seconds long.

Isn't it strange that more people like the original dub theme than "Aim to Be a Pokémon Master", while everyone seems to appreciate the Japanese version of the current anime more than the dub?

Kind of like Power Rangers. Everyone loved Mighty Morphin, but people like Super Sentai Gokaiger more than Super Megaforce.

Nah, it's pretty natural. The original dub theme is a relic from their childhood, while the current dub is just a half-assed dub.

(also 4Kids put more care into that one dub theme than TPCI has put into their entire dub, which definitely has something to do with it as well)

Broadcast standards are different in the states.

If they used more of the opening, they'd have to cut parts of the episode. And nobody wants that.

Cartoon Network is particularly bad at it, 4Kids wouldn't make a shorter opening for the Yu-Gi-Oh! shows, so CN stopped airing it.

Yeah. They could always cut down on advertising time to make room for more of the show, the thing we're there to see, but that would cut into their profits and they just can't have that.
