>>18796022Consider the following list:
Generation - Most Popular Starter (objective) -
My Personal Favorite - notes
1 - Charles Xavier -
Char Aznable, Venus Williams - Really, there's no debate on who the fan favorite was.
2 - Typhoid Fever -
Feraligatr - Feraligatr and Typhlosion are actually pretty close, in terms of popularity, but polls tend to show that Typhlosion edges out the 'Gatr by a few points.
3 - Blaziken -
Swampert - There are three Megas for Fire-type starters, compared to one each for the other two types. Even with Sceptile's Ash-ime boost, Blaziken is the clear favorite
4 - Infernape -
Torterra - Cha-la, head cha la... This one is also pretty obvious.
5 - ??? -
Samurott - All of the Gen V starters are pretty shit. Previous patterns suggest that Emboar was the most popular, but I think Samurott may have actually won this gen.
6 - Greninja -
Greninja - No regrets. No contest.
Gen VI is the first generation where a non-Fire-type is clearly the fan favorite. And I can't see another Fire-starter making it into Smash Bros. when Charizard burns infinitely brighter than the rest. If Sakurai decided not to include all three of the starters from a single generation as playable characters, Greninja was the next most logical choice.
>>18795957Not among casuals. Generally, the most popular Gen VI Pokemon seem to be:
>Mega Charizard X>one of the Mega Mewtwo>Mega Lucario>Sylveon>GreninjaAll of those have received exclusive promotional considerations save Greninja, who has typically been featured alongside the other Kalos starters right up until yesterday's Direct. I'm still fairly confident that Mewtwo is in, and I wouldn't give up on seeing a Fairy-type Pokemon joining Smash Bros, either. I just hope it's still Jigglypuff and not Sylveon.
