So, /vp/, I've been playing singles for a while now, but I'm thinking about switching over to VGC. Is it a good idea? How different are the metas? Can I use my favorite pokemon Mienshao and Azumarill effectively?

There's a bit of a learning curve but the main difference is doubles is all about speed control.
Gotta go fast. Tailwind, trick room, things like that. It's also a lot faster paced.
I'm not an expert so I don't know if I can help more than that.

You will fail if you simply take OU: The Team: The Experience: The Ride and throw it wholesale into a VGC match. Practice a bit with babby's first doubles team: something with Telepathy/Ghost-type and something with Explosion.

meinshao sees a lot of action in doubles due to the assload of support moves it has. azumarril is decent in general

Protect is now incredibly significant, every switch can be immediately game-changing and spread moves bring a new element of their own.
