The canon really isn't that bad, alot of things have neat concepts. Characters like Eggman and Shadow have gotten some really nice development, and to be honest I kind of like Sonic as a character. Sometimes he just really doesn't seem to care about saving anything, which makes him feel alot more likeable than characters that just go around trying to preach shit to everyone.
The supporting cast is mostly awful though, with a few rare exceptions. The fact that they keep introducing more of them all the time doesn't help it's cause either. The storylines are mostly crap, but at least Shadow's backstory was good until they threw aliens in it for no reason.
