>>18800427The only ones who did that were BUI and his (her?) circle of friends and EVERYONE hated them, even in the time of "no moderation" those threads kept getting pruned because it was obvious that they were, simply and effectively, trolls. They knew people got mad at their attitude and they liked the attention.
Porn was only a problem to those who have problem with it today. Even if "SFW" this is still a public board, you have to be delusional to not expect it and over-sensitive to be bothered by it.
Porn "spam" only happened for two or so weeks before a general was organized that not only kept in contained but also managed an archive so they only happened once/twice a week. People were even considerate enough to spoiler their shit. Porn still pop'd up sometimes in other threads either because of newfags or out of spite to the people who had a problem with it but this wasn't and still isn't /vp/ exclusive.
The time /tr/ became Hell only lasted the last week before CAPTCHA since many dipshits started spamming with actual spam scripts. What many forget is that by then ALL of 4chan had a problem with spam because of fuckwads coming from all over (thanks to idiots promoting it on facebook and the like) to exploit the extreme posting feedom we had back then. In reality /vp/ didn't gone to shit, it just was a really bad wave of sitewide shitposting and when mods got took "care" of it much good content was caught in the crossfire (admittedly we got some lousy mods, seems they also took care of /v/). /vp/ has been slowly recovering since then but the constant influx of newfags and the lack of quality moderation really makes it hard for a culture be established again.
End point: /vp/'s problem is lack of unity, people can't even agree to disagree. For all of Showdown/Wifi's flaws at least those people are having fun together.
Also, newfags, those will always be a problem. /vp/ seems to attract the worst kind (specifically, kids).
