I'm interested in one thing: Did Game Freak make Greninja objectively the best starter because they knew he would be in Smash, or was it the other way around? Same for Charizard - did GF only give it a second Mega and pander to the Edgyzard fanbase solely due to appearing in Smash? I find it funny how the two objectively overpowered starters (bar Blaziken) are appearing in Smash.

Either way it's a bit of a shame. I would've far preferred Pokemon Trainer to make a comeback, with Squirtle and Ivysaur - or hell even mix it up with several different combination of starters. But Greninja? Eh.

If we're talking competitively, then yeah, it's objectively better. Aesthetics are a different debate, but Greninja is without a doubt a monster on the competitive scene.

I run a max hp Chest with a little bit of SDef investments so, Greninja is gonna get that hammer arm to the feic
(Also i can Always use spiky shield to check what moves it has)

Charizard is the absolute favorite pokemon of pretty much anyone. Putting him in SSB makes perfect sense. Greninja is sorta a weird choice but he'll be used a lot

I'm a Venusaur and Delphox mark but I think this is fine. Charizard is definitely next in line after Pikachu in popularity. Greninja was going to be way more popular than Delphox and Chestnaugt even if he wasn't in Smash Bros and wasn't getting promoted in the anime.

I'm almost sure Charizard was planned to be solo from the start in Brawl, but then Squirtle and Ivysaur were added in. RIP guys.
