I was like you too OP.. but probably worse.. I hated the idea and design of the DS line in general.. and the huge leap that pokemon took from 32bit top down to some 2.5D abomination that didnt even feel like pokemon anymore was something.. but for some reason I decided to try X/Y so i said fuck it and picked up an XL and pokemon X and I've actually enjoyed it about as much as gen 3.. but unlike gen 3, i'd probably never replay the story more than once.

It dropped frames in places it didn't in D/P and it still took forever for HP to drop to zero if you OHKO a Pokemon with a ton of HP.
Let's not forget about those save times that were slower than they were D/P too.

The only thing Platinum fixed speed wise was the surfing, the rest was either the same or even slower than it was before.

A couple of the tracks were great, for example every champion theme sounds like shit in comparison to Cynthia's.

To me, it has a "Holy shit, this is it. Final Boss." feels to it. I think the reason so many people hate it is because it's associated with Red.

Never. They took contest stats out of the Pokemon file data in Gen VI. Unless they took contests out of Gen III remakes, they aren't happening this gen, and probably not the next gen either. The only reason Gens I and II were remade was because you couldn't access Pokemon from Johto or Kanto easily and trade them between games.

Between Firered, Leafgreen and Emerald you could get all of the necessary pokemon to finish the National Dex.

Well I rather use mp3 already on my pc thn online lists (my internet is not connected 24/7, even 6 hours is a lot)
I listen to whatever artist according to my mood. I got a lot of KMFDM songs, but I listen to others quite a lot- drowning pool, soundgarden, monstermagnet - all are also folders I play quite often.
I do listen to other stuff, like game music (nukem2, jazzrabbit2) touhou arrenges (iosys is my fav, and yes it's a guilty pleasure) and anime themes and OST (especialy nyaruko, spice wolf, and various ops and eds all around)

I don't quite like trance or house, but your list is very pleasing to the ear.

I haven't played since R/S/E (and then using an emulator). Is there any reason to play B/W and/or B2/W2? I just picked up a 3DS a few days ago and buried myself into Y, but I was wondering if anyone thinks there's enough reason to go back to the previous titles. With GTS, I can acquire pretty much every Pokemon I want/need online, even if it takes a little while, so there's no question about exclusivity. Are there any features that make it worth playing, or should I just stick with Y?

Also is there gonna be a Z for this gen? Which is to say, the third, better-than-the-rest entry in the gen (a la Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, etc.)? I'm guessing not, given the precedent set by the Black and White series.

The grounds that Sinnoh as a whole was ruined by that fucking mountain and all the backtracking that resulted from it, lackluster Pokémon distribution, and horrendously bad pacing. Platinum fixed many of these issues, but, as a whole, Sinnoh left a bad taste in most people's mouths.

HG/SS is widely enjoyed, though, so the gen itself was pretty mixed. Take from it what you will.

DPPt are good games but battles and overall pace of the game are slow. Doesn't matter what you played it on, Gen 5 and 6 are faster games with more Pokemon, more moves, and more abilities.
DPPt are good, but Gen 5 and 6 are better.
