Before I post the topic of this post, i should say that, to some, it may seem like i'm trolling, but i'm not, I want peoples genuine opinions.

My question really is: Is Pokemon (in video-game format, not the card game) the worst competitive game ever made? (That has become at least reasonably popular.)

I don't mean, "Are the games shit." They are not, they are a lot of fun, but as something to play competitively, it has got to be one of the worst designs ever. It is great fun to battle your friends and mess around etc, but the moment you actually look to play the game at a "serious" level (Laddering/tiers/competitions/rankings etc) it becomes awful.

In order for a game to be "good" competitively, it has to be based primarily on skill, some small level of luck should be involved to spice things up but in essence: If player A plays better than player B then player A should win essentially 100% of the time. In Pokemon, skill is one of the least important elements of success.

Just to break things down, Pokemon has
Confusion,
Para proccing
Freeze proccing
Sleep
Burn proccing as a secondary effect of some moves
Poison proccing as a secondary effect of some moves
Flinching
Critical Hits
Moves missing (debatable i'll admit, as you can just use 100% accurate moves)
Min/Max DMG
Items proccing (rare, but things like quick claw/brightpowder etc)
(i'm sure there is some more RNG that i've missed but I can't recall.)

All of these things add up to a situation where someone can outpredict, and outplay an opponent for an entire match, and still lose. Or where an entire match can hinge on one roll of the dice.

On top of that, there are things like teambuilding etc, which takes no skill whatsoever, yet often ends up being the most important element in a match.

So i guess my closing questions would be:
Is Pokemon the worst competitive game you have come across? (not the "least fun" but the worst designed.)
DO you honestly enjoy playing it? Why?
