Why won't GF let me replay my pokemon game without losing my Blazekenite?

I don't have any friends with Pokemon to trade with locally.

It would have been so easy for them to have PokeBank store items.
It's basically the only thing I wanted PokeBank for, so I could store all my important and cool stuff and replay the game.
