They don't make sense. He's a cartoon version of a Pika, or mice in general. I see him being yellow as a sense of dormice being golden yellow colour.
Having him be brown with orange cheeks like Dedenne would've been cool.

Or even white, with red eyes and yellow cheeks like he's albino, which is very common in rodents.

That happened when someone gave away all the Pokemon on their pre owned Y save.
They loaded it up and they had a nice Gengar, so i asked for it along with the Gengarite.

When i threw it into battle, i must've not noticed the sparkles but when it Meg evolved, it was fucking White. Was really surprised and when i told the guy he didn't even realise either. Said I could keep it anyway though.
It's Modest nature too, the IVs aren't perfect but it's better than being Adamant or something as well
