Anyone have a super competitive min on their list of "would not catch on an average play through cuz I don't care for it"? Personally, Dragonite just looks bad and uninteresting. Would only outside first run if I lack dragon type completely.

Ok OP. I'm going to talk about why I LOVE butterfree in original gold/slver

1. Its really easy to level up caterpie to 10 in this game. All you do is head to the bellsprout tower with your caterpie and some potions and run through the level 3 bellsprout trainers until its level 10

2. Access to confusion at level 10. Access to paralysis and sleep via stun spore and sleep powder by level 15. Ridiculous. Makes catching pokemon so much easier. Makes incapacitating gym leaders pokemon "eat shit whitney" easy

I want to give a special shout out to female geodude for being able to 1hit ko that stupid miltank with self destruct at 21 because that is so satisfying to take your anger out on it by blowing up

I don't play on shift and I'm an excellent grinder, but when I think about EV's, IV's and all the items and choices out there, my head spins. Lately I have been paying slightly more attention to my Pokemon's stats though.

I just recently found out about EV's and IV's. I do try breed pokes with 5-6 IV's, but I'm not at the point where I'll be able to battle competitively and understand what the fuck I'm doing. Kudos to those who are able to do both. Casual play is fun, but I can also see the fun in competitive.

Hmmm.. I'd say invest points equally between SPD, and Atk, and put the rest in HP.

So it can do good damage and take hits from common threats.

252 HP/252 SpDef if you're real.

Will-o/Morning Sun & two filler moves. Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, HP Grass, and Espeed are good options. Although, recoil moves aren't the best thing on a defensive mon.

Investing in SpDef lets it take a lot of hits on the special side. And Will-o + Intimidate lets it take a lot of hits on the physical side. Not the best choice for a wall in the game, but it's fun.

Although, Excadrill gets Stealth Rock & Rapid Spin and is a lot better than donphan. And it looks pretty rad too imo
