Switching is a core mechanic, and switching at the proper times is necessary in high level play, and often singlehandedly decides games, even more than the Pokemon being used.

Darmanitan removes this option because he will OHKO(or damn close OHKO if you bring in the Pokemon you were forced to run specifically to counter this piece of OP bullshit), and then can switch out free from and repercussions.

If you don't think that Darmanitan is severely limiting gameplay and teambuilding options, then you seriously need to get good.

Mega Charizard Y also has very few safe switch ins
Mega Medicham has exactly one good counter in Aegislash (and a handful of other bulky ghosts and psychics from the lower tiers,) everything else is OHKOed or outspeed and 2HKOed.
Mega Gardevoir not only has Fae Scream of Death and STAB Psyshock, but also Will-o-Wisp because fuck you.
Staraptor similarly has very few counters, with the only OU Pokemon being able to switch in being Skarmory and Aegislash.

None of these are banned or even remotely broken because they're slow, frail (at least on one side) and with exploitable weaknesses; just like Darmanitan. Really, specs Kingdra in Rain is way more difficult to counter or even revenge kill. About as powerful as Y-zard except it's disgustingly fast. But it's not broken.

I think I perceive some sort of statement about smogon bans or whatever, but you're saying it in a profoundly retarded way.

Darmanitan in reality only has one set, maybe with a move change or item switch. Which is precisely why it's very counterable. Hadn't Darmanitan-Z been basically a broken mechanic you might have a point.

If you resist Fire attacks, you've done 80% of beating Darmanitan already. The other 20% comes in surviving its auxhilary attacks, which aren't terribly strong, and doing enough damage to wound or KO it, which isn't difficult either.

Any hazards ruin it, rain also does by reducing Flare Blitz power. Talonflames BB ruins it. Look at its horrible defenses, Sucker Punch it. If it survives it'll most likely faint due to recoil.
